The voice of a CMU student

Didn't think I would update my blog 3 days in a row eh? Anyway, I'm here today to bitch about school, life, things that really SUCK a lot right now...

1) Don't you just HATE it when you knew you aced a test, but then when you got it back it read 72% instead of that 100% you were looking for? And when you saw what kinds of trivial/careless mistakes you made on the test, you started having seconds thoughts about why you even bothered studying for it, because you probably would have gotten the SAME score if you didn't know how to do those problems. You wondered why you were even born on this planet and felt like killing yourself. This is how I feel about my finance test right now.

2) CMU probably has one of the worst graduate placement programs. You go to the TOC, all they tell you to submit your resume on TartanTrak or (my favorite) to go back to your home country and look for a job there. You go to the BOC, which only consisted of 5 real companies (as oppose to 200+ at UPenn), and you don't even see a single HR or mangerial level person -- everyone is alumni who recently graduated and they still tell you to submit your resume on TartanTrak. In some universities, a whole building was dedicated to graduate placement, and over here, a stingy little career center that only takes up a fraction of our UC basement. And it is conviniently located across the Post Office so it's pretty easy for employers to go there to mail you the rejection letters right after your interviews.

3) Pittsburgh, a city that used to be comparable to New York City and London, the industrial center of the world, a city with opportunities, is now cold, boring, depressing, and has a constant decline in population since the mid 70s. The weather sux, the road sux, the food sux, it's overloaded with old people...I swear it snowed yesterday! And it's only end of October?

Wow I feel better already! =)

On a brighter side of things, at least I have a great girlfriend, awesome friends, caring parents (who offered to let me chill at home if i can't find a job), my dear Jetta (ahem), and I'm getting out of here next May (hopefully).
